This kit allows for a plug-and-play installation of any 2011-2019 Explorer center console into any 2013-2019 Ford Police Interceptor Utility (may also work for Ford Taurus consoles into Police Interceptor Sedans, but has not yet been tested).

This kit includes the adaptor wiring harness/components only and does not include the center console. Also included are two SYNC replacement USB panels for use with PIU Sync 1 systems. This is useful for Explorer consoles that are not currently compatible with your PIU SYNC system. 

This kit utilizes the Police Interceptor 6-way and 14-way connectors to power the console. It is important to verify that your Interceptor is still equipped with its connectors prior to ordering to ensure they have not been removed. If they have been removed some manual wiring will be needed to make this harness work with your vehicle. 

Console features this harness enables:

  • Cigarette lighter power points
  • Cupholder and rear ambient lighting (2011-2015 pre-LIN only, Ford Ice Blue color only)*
  • Rear USB ports (on higher trim 2016+ models)
  • Storage task lighting
  • Retains any pre-wired 6-way and 14-way connections due to use of T-harness'

Additional features this harness provides:

  • 2x Accessory pigtails for easy equipment install (dashcam, radio, lights, etc...)
  • Dedicated console fuse box
  • Integrated relay for ignition-on power to prevent battery drain
  • Install troubleshooting support

Possible supported features with additional parts/labor**

  • Console mounted shifter conversion
  • Rear HVAC controller

 SYNC USB hub wiring is not affiliated with this harness and requires a USB A to USB mini cable.

*From 2016-2019 the Explorer console ambient lighting switched to a LIN-bus system that cannot be activated on a Police Interceptor. For 2016-2019 consoles a replacement cupholder ambient lighting is available HERE

**Additional OEM features can be enabled by sliding terminal pins into the console harness connectors. It is highly recommended that you obtain a wiring diagram for your vehicle/console before attempting. We do not offer support/advice for these modifications.

Great harness

I like the harness I had already installed the center console so I wasn’t going to remove the whole thing unless I really had to. Luckily I was able to do everything without filling removing the entire console. The cable training was difficult and the relay to ground was also kind of difficult but got it done and it’s great. I wish there was a plug and play option to get the rear ac control connected but that’s too much for me currently. Also the ac outlet doesn’t work but I may have missed the cable connection I may open the console and try to get that but other than that the harness works well all my lighting works and so does the cigarette lighters all three of them and the usb port.

The only thing that could've made it better is the sync option. Being able to wire the piu's sync system to the civilian console
